Pioneering activities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people in Brighton & Hove and West Sussex
Our experienced Active Lives team offers a weekly timetable that encourages ambition and progression in a safe and supported environment.
Activities are designed to achieve positive outcomes for people’s personal and professional development, as well as to provide the opportunity to make and spend time with good friends in a welcoming atmosphere.
Active Lives offers a wide range of varied activities for people with a learning disability and autistic people – whether you are looking for an exciting project or to learn a new skill; and whether you would prefer something loud and active, or a quiet, calm activity, or even a mix of both.
Our day services programme for autistic people and people with learning disabilities is delivered by kind, trained support workers and subject experts.
We offer:
We regularly review our programme to make sure we are offering the best range of activities. We are always listening to the people who attend activities so that we can offer a timetable that is fresh and interesting.
Active Lives offers activities for autistic people and people with a learning disability in an exciting range of locations throughout Brighton & Hove and West Sussex.
Our main base in Telecom House is next to Preston Park in Brighton. We have our own café for fun and sociable break times and a quiet sensory room for use when needed.
Other Active Lives locations include our allotment in Hove, a recording studio, sports and leisure centres, plus community centres and parks.
We also make use of a wide range of other locations for walks and more occasional activities.
As well as our regular, in-house sessions, we work with a range of brilliant partners for different sessions and run various, exciting time-limited projects.
Recent examples include:
We teamed up with eott, a mental health project, and printing company Another Fine Mesh to screen-print t-shirts that were available to buy. Watch the video to see what happens when art and mindfulness come together.
You may be able to book Active Lives sessions through your social worker if you have one. You can also self-refer.
