Having a job is about more than earning money. It’s about feeling valued, independent and fulfilled. Read about our free training courses and other work to support employment.
We have developed an Employment Strategy with the aim of increasing the number of people with a learning disability and autistic people in paid jobs. We are committed to employing more people with a learning disability and autistic people within Grace Eyre and we also offer volunteer roles that provide the skills needed for paid work, for example through our Purple Productions team.
We have a strong track record of delivering award-winning employment programmes to adults with a learning disability and autistic people through free employment support and skills training, work experience opportunities with local employers, peer mentoring and progression to employment, volunteering, education and/or training. See below for more detail on our current courses.
We have also launched our employment campaign ‘Work-Able’, which will target employers, legislators and local authorities to raise awareness of the benefits of employing more people with a learning disability, and to support them and make sure they are treated fairly once in the workforce. We are also a Disability Confident Leader. See further below to read how we can support other organisations in being more more confident in employing and supporting disabled people.
Less than 5% of people with a learning disability in the UK are employed. But we know many more could be and would like to be.

Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better.
They change behaviour and cultures in their own businesses, networks and communities, and reaping the benefits of inclusive recruitment practices.
We would very much like to offer support to other local organisations with Disability Confident status, as well as those who’d like to take their first steps on this route.
