It’s Trustees’ Week: 4-8 November 2024

Trustees’ Week takes place every year. It aims to showcase the great work trustees do!

Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They play a very important role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about a charity’s work.

Thank you

We would like to thank all of our Grace Eyre trustees for sharing their time, talent and experience:

  • Liv Corbishley (Chair)
  • Anna Cooley-Greene (Deputy Chair)
  • Peter Begley (Treasurer)
  • Mark Blake
  • Samantha Boast
  • Bobby Dhol
  • Andrew Horne
  • Stuart Leaney
  • Simon Owen
  • Daniel Parsonage
  • Kirsty Pentecost
  • Josh Puglia
  • Lisa Ryan
  • Stephanie Smith

We want to say a special thank you to Kirsty Pentecost, who recently stepped down from the Board.

Kirsty was a Grace Eyre trustee for seven years. She was Grace Eyre’s first trustee with lived experience. During her time on the Board, Kirsty pushed for changes that made trustee processes easier for herself and others with lived experience. One of the changes Kirsty made helped to make was the introduction of  an easy read agenda and minutes. She also suggested accessibility changes for Grace Eyre’s upcoming Big Build.

Kirsty said:

“A highlight for me was being picked as the first person with lived experience to help make change happen. It wasn’t easy at first but with support we started pre-brief and debrief meetings – the meetings that happen before and after the Board meeting.

I enjoyed being a trustee because I liked being able to help make change happen and getting the voices of people with a learning disability heard.

I thought it was time to step down as a trustee as I’ve been doing it for seven years and wanted to give other people with lived experience an opportunity to step in a give it a try.”

Trustee training for people with a learning disability and/or autism

We have developed a trustee training programme for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

We did this because there were no accessible training courses available that were designed to support people with a learning disability and/or autism who wanted to become trustees.

Grace Eyre currently has 3 trustees with a learning disability and/or autistic people who help to lead our organisation. We will continue to expand this number with courses like this.

If your organisation is looking for accessible training for people you support who want to become trustees, get in touch with Cleo Dibb, User Involvement Manager, at cdibb@grace-eyre.org or on 07921 095 492.
