The sun was shining for a successful Athletics Taster Event on 14th August in partnership with Brighton and Hove Athletics Club. The Grace Eyre Foundation and Special Olympics Sussex joined forces with the club to offer a taster session for adults with a learning disability to enable them to come and try a range of track and field events including sprints, long jump, discus, shot put and hammer.

The event which took place at Withdean Sports Centre was possible thanks to funding from the Tony Barnard Foundation and it gave the chance for ten participants to come and try various events on the athletics track for the first time.

It is hoped that following this success, further opportunities can now be developed to support more adults with a learning disability and/or autistic people to take part in future athletics training.
