On Thursday 1st February, the Grace Eyre Art Studio based at Brighton’s Open Market will open its doors to the public for a brand new exhibition featuring works by the Grace Eyre Photography groups. ‘Monday to Friday: Photographing the Everyday’ includes abstract shots by the Studio based group and images inspired by the great outdoors taken by the All Day Photography group. All photos in the exhibition are taken by adults with learning disabilities.
The Grace Eyre Art Studio hub is a small studio space located upstairs at the Open Market on London Road. Currently, the main activities which take place at the hub are exhibitions and supported employment activities. It is used three days a week by people with learning disabilities who practice their customer service skills by selling the art on exhibit so serves a valuable dual purpose.
Peter, one of the photographers exhibiting his ‘Leaf on the Roof’ image said, ‘I enjoyed taking it. I thought it was nice. I like taking photos.’
We hope you’ll be able to come and visit the exhibition – it’s an inclusive space run by people with learning disabilities. The exhibition runs from 1st February – 17th March 2018 on Thursday 1-4pm, Friday 11.30am-2pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.
