Meet Bobby. Bobby contacted the Travel Buddy team as she wanted to learn the route from her home to college, where she studies music production.

Over ten weeks we worked on learning the route, learning how to cross roads, staying focused whilst out in the community and using a mobile phone to stay in contact with mum. Throughout the training Bobby was motivated to travel independently and progressed with great speed and confidence towards travelling independently.

Bobby said:

“I would encourage other young people to do the training because it’s fun and helpful. The training has given me independence and freedom.”

Bobby’s mum said that:

“The programme has also really helped me. I have felt quite overwhelmed by this transition from secondary school to college, from Bobby being a ‘child’ to ‘young person’. Having the support of Bobby’s travel buddy made me feel so much more confident about it all. In the future Bobby can now see herself going to gigs, meeting friends etc.”

The Travel Buddy team are proud of Bobby’s achievements and wish her all the best for the future.
