Who we are:
The Grace Eyre Foundation supports adults with a learning disability and/or autistic adults across Sussex, enabling and empowering them to live their lives the way they want to. We are one of Brighton & Hove’s oldest and most innovative charities and support over 600 people each year.
Our vision is for the people we support to be treated and respected as equal citizens, to be valued members of and contributors to their communities, and to be empowered to fulfil their goals and ambitions.
We do this by providing a range of high-quality, person-centred services and projects that enrich and transform people’s lives, including one-to-one care and support, community outreach services, supported living and housing services and a wide range of arts, sports and personal development activities.
All of Grace Eyre’s projects and services are informed and inspired by Our Charter, which was written by the people we support. They tell us they want “good support from kind and friendly people” – so that is what we’re looking for – people like you!
Introduction to the role:
The Fundraising Team is responsible for raising money so that Grace Eyre can deliver the innovative services and pioneering projects that go above and beyond statutory services. Projects such as Peer-to-Peer Tenancy Support which builds a community support network for people to live and thrive in their own homes, Pioneer Arts which showcases and celebrates the artistic talents of the people we support, Travel Buddy which gives people the confidence, knowledge and skills to travel independently, and Employability which provides tailored work experience and skills-based training for people to get a job.
We do this through lots of different types of fundraising, including fundraising events and community fundraising.
As a small team, we need the help and support of committed, enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. Could this be you?
Brief outline of the role:
Our Fundraising Volunteers will be responsible for supporting fundraising events and helping to encourage members of the public to take on fundraising challenges in aid of Grace Eyre.
Volunteers will support the engagement and recruitment of people taking on fundraising challenges in aid of Grace Eyre, such as the Brighton Marathon, 10k events and London to Brighton Cycle Ride by attending local running and cycling events, engaging with the local community and letting them know about opportunities to get involved.
Volunteers will support runners and riders at mass participation events, cheering them on, waving the Grace Eyre flag (metaphorically and physically), and celebrating their achievements.
Volunteers will support fundraising events such as our annual Christmas Concert with tasks including setting up and packing up, welcoming and ushering audience members, and selling raffle tickets and refreshments.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion:
No applicant or volunteer will be treated less favourably than another on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, marriage & civil partnership or pregnancy & maternity, and we encourage applications from people with learning disabilities or identify with being on the autistic spectrum/neurodiverse.
