Our Board of Trustees

The role of our Board of Trustees is to provide strategic direction, ensuring that we deliver on our charitable aims and objectives. Our Trustees oversee the goals we set and ensure we’re making progress towards them. They also ensure we function within the legal, charitable and financial requirements set by statutory and regulatory authorities and that key organisational policies are in place and implemented.

Our Board has 10 members who together bring a complimentary range of experience and expertise that promote a balanced and informed approach that enables decisions that have the interests of the charity and the people we support at their focus.

We strive to be a user-led organisation that values the inclusion of authentic voice and representation in our leadership, and the board reflects this ambition.

Anna Cooley (Co-Chair)

Anna brings more than 30 years’ experience in the social housing and charity sector. She has held extensive roles within homelessness services and managed a national portfolio. Currently, Anna works as a social housing consultant, applying her expertise to the Grace Eyre board.

Anna is dedicated to ensuring equitable, high-quality services for people with learning disabilities or autism so they can thrive and lead the life that they have chosen.

She is committed to making certain that Grace Eyre continues to respond to the needs of those who use our services. Her passion lies in upholding the charity’s values and ensuring that the voices of the people Grace Eyre supports remain at the heart of everything they do.

Anna is a professionally trained artist and maintains a lifelong passion for the arts. She has two adult children, practices meditation every day, and can always be found on the spin bike.

Josh Puglia (Co-Chair)

Josh brings his experience of Autism that offers insight and perspective of personal experience to the board. Josh is a Grace Eyre ambassador and member of the access advisory panel for Southern Railway where he advises on inclusive travel.

Josh is supporting Grace Eyre as he can see the passion everyone has at the charity in working so hard to enrich the lives of people with a learning disability and/or autism

“I really believe in the Grace Eyre charter and want to see everyone we support to have the best opportunities to live, love and be happy in life”

Josh is an expert horse-rider, pizza enthusiast and an avid theatre go-er with a penchant for musicals.

Simon Owen (Deputy Chair)

In my role as an urban planner at HTA Design, I work with housing associations, councils and other developers to help deliver new homes, focusing particularly on affordable homes and high-density developments.

I offer advisory support to the Executive team on housing and other items.

Stephanie Smith

I have worked in the charity sector for my entire career, mainly in fundraising, commercial, retail, marketing and senior leadership positions; firstly in London for 20 years and more recently in larger Sussex-based charities.  My day job is Chief Executive of Raystede, a fabulous animal welfare centre in East Sussex.  I live in West Sussex with my family plus cats and my main hobby is supporting Everton FC.

I am committed to and passionate about enabling all people with learning disabilities and autism to have equality and the opportunity to live their best lives.

Dom McMahon

Dominic joined the Board in 2025 as he was keen to contribute to Grace Eyre’s inspirational work. He wanted to become a trustee following his previous work running online sessions for the former Grace Eyre Friendship Group, which he found really uplifting, and after taking part in important campaigns as a Grace Eyre Ambassador.

Dominic feels passionate about supporting others and advocating for them, and his lived experience of autism helps him relate to the people we support.

In his spare time, Dominic DJs at a disability night club, enjoys building computers and gaming, and composes music for films. He also volunteers with adults with learning disabilities at a recording studio.
