Weekend Walks is a peer-led walking group, aiming to encourage people to walk more and to experience the benefits of walking. To increase participation and encourage ongoing walking, people are welcome to bring their friends and family along.
The walks are led by Lulu, who is supported by Grace Eyre, drawing on her enjoyment of walking and skills of recruiting and encouraging people to join her. Lulu will choose and set the route, ensuring accessibility for all.
This new walking group runs at weekends, and everyone is welcome! People will be encouraged to come regularly, but you can join the group at anytime and you don’t have to come along every week.
The project aims to:
- Increase engagement in physical activity
- Increase confidence to get out and about
- Reduce loneliness
- Encourage people to walk more beyond the funded period.
Our first weekend walk takes place on:
Saturday 7th February
11:00am – 12:00pm
Meet at the Rotunda Cafe, Preston Park.
This community walking project has been set up with a small grant from Brighton & Hove City Council. The funding has been made available by Active Travel England.
Keep an eye on our what’s on page for upcoming walks.
