As the annual Artists Open Houses returns to Brighton & Hove this May, we are thrilled to invite you to our latest exhibition at a brand new venue – The Modern Funeral.
We will be showcasing powerful and expressive artworks created by our Pioneer Artists – talented artists with a learning disability and autistic artists who we support at Grace Eyre.
Our artists will be presenting an inspiring collection of diverse works across a variety of media including printmaking, fine art, photography, mosaics, textiles, film and sound design.
We welcome you to come and explore the creativity on display, connect with the stories behind the art and discover one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the unique perspectives of our artists.
You will also have the opportunity to support our charity and the artists themselves by purchasing artwork, handmade t-shirts and greeting cards.
About our new venue
As we have recently moved to a new base near Preston Park, we are delighted to be exhibiting at The Modern Funeral this year as part of the Dyke Road Arts Trail.
The Modern Funeral is located at 19 Station Road in Brighton, just to the right of the entrance to Preston Park Station on the Preston Park side.
Max Phillips, Grace Eyre’s Service Manager for Arts, said:
“The space at The Modern Funeral offers us an exciting and surprising new way to exhibit diverse work by artists with a learning disability and autistic artists. We’re really happy to be partnering with the Modern Funeral who, like our artists, are pioneering in what they do”.
Jackie Blackwell, Funeral Arranger and Event Coordinator at Modern Funeral, added:
“We are really delighted to host the annual Open House Art Exhibition of Pioneer Artists from Grace Eyre this May at our bright Victorian former railway building right beside Preston Park railway station. This will be a first for our space at The Modern Funeral, but we hope this will be the start of a continued friendship and partnership with Grace Eyre. The work of the Pioneer Artists will bring an explosion of fresh and colourful art into the space and we’re looking forward to welcoming the artists and visitors alike.”
