Grace Eyre’s Scrap the Disability Tax Campaign
What is it about?
People with disabilities are being asked by the council to pay for their care. This is known as Care Contribution Costs.
Many people can’t afford this, and we think this is wrong.
Grace Eyre Ambassadors have started a campaign about this issue. This means we are working together to bring about a change.
We are making a film to show the councils in East and West Sussex how this issue affects us in our day to day lives.
We know that two councils in London have decided to scrap Care Contribution Costs.
We think the same should happen here and everywhere!
How you can take action
We want to hear from people with a learning disability and autistic people who are being asked to pay towards their care.
- How does it affect your life?
- Do you understand how much you have to pay, and where the money goes?
There are lots of different ways that you can share your story to be part of our film.
- Writing
- Drawing/ art
- Story boarding
- Voice recording (WhatsApp voice note)
- Video recording
We are happy to hear your own ideas too!
We can support you to share your story, let us know what you need.
If you prefer, your story can be shared in the film anonymously.
