As Brighton’s Artist’s Open Houses returns this May, with venues across Brighton & Hove opening their doors to share a variety of arts and crafts, local charity Grace Eyre is not only welcoming art lovers to its own open house, but also to a brand new online gallery.
The Pioneer Arts website will showcase artwork created by artists supported by Grace Eyre. Initially sharing work created by four of the artists, but with plans to expand further in future, visitors can learn more about the artists, view a selection of the diverse work and find out how to buy it.
To coincide with the launch, while Grace Eyre artists have joined in with Artists Open House for the past 15 years as Montefiore Artists, this year they are doing so as ‘Pioneer Arts at Montefiore’, included within the Seven Dials Trail. As with the online gallery, all the work in the exhibition, which will take place at the Grace Eyre headquarters in Montefiore Road, Hove, is made by artists with a learning disability and by autistic artists. The show will shine a spotlight on featured artists and their rich and diverse work in range of media including printmaking, drawing, painting, photography, mosaics, sculpture and textiles.
Online Gallery Manager, Lauren Angelkov Cummings said:
“At Grace Eyre, there are many talented artists producing exceptional work. It is a great opportunity for them to showcase their work at the prestigious Artists Open House festival, at which I am delighted to announce the launch of Pioneer Arts, our new online gallery featuring four Pioneer Artists and a selection of their work.
Our wonderful Pioneer Artists – Keith Purcell, Mario Antoon, Reg Day, and Zena Ardley – are just a few of the amazing artists at Grace Eyre who create incredible work. This is only the beginning after much hard work from our team, but we are eager to showcase more artwork and artists as we grow, sharing it both online and in person.”
Grace Eyre has a long history of involvement with the creative arts and featuring them as a key part of its Active Lives programme of pioneering activities that encourage ambition and progression in a safe and supported environment.
Grace Eyre Chief Executive, Eva Eriksson, said:
“Art has always been a big focus at Grace Eyre with some amazing creative work produced throughout the years. The new online gallery offers more people the opportunity to not only see this brilliant talent and work produced by the artists but also to both support the artists and own their own unique piece.”
