On 17th October, we held a successful Boccia taster morning at King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove.
Six participants from our Active Lives service attended and took part in some friendly but competitive matches! They were supported during the games by Boccia UK Paralympian Louis Saunders.
Thanks to Brighton & Hove City Council’s Active for Life Team, Special Olympics Great Britain, Kingsway Care and Freedom Leisure who all helped to make the session possible.
What is Boccia?
Boccia is a target sport designed for those with higher support needs and played with soft leather balls. Its format makes it accessible and fully inclusive.
Plans are underway for some additional Boccia sessions. Hopefully, this will lead to a regular competitive league next year.
