
Join our Board of Trustees and play a key role in supporting people who have learning disability and/or autism to live the lives they want.
We are looking for trustees and a Deputy Chair with professional expertise in areas such as board governance, property project management and development, digital technology, charitable fundraising and/or lived experience of learning disabilities.
Grace Eyre Trustees are responsible for actively engaging in preparing for meetings where they will be discussing, debating and agreeing key decisions that affect the charity.
We welcome applicants from minority and ethnic communities who are underrepresented on the Board. We value diverse perspectives from the widest possible range of backgrounds.
Responsibilities
Grace Eyre Trustees are responsible for actively engaging in preparing for meetings where they will be discussing, debating and agreeing key decisions that affect the charity.
The Board of Trustees hold 6 meetings and have an away day a year. Each meeting requires 3 hours with reading time. All trustees have the opportunity to join one the committees below:
- Audit and Risk Committee – meet 3 times a year
- Big Build Committee – meet 6 times a year
- Remuneration Committee – meet once a year
We would like the Deputy Chair to chair one of the committees.
The trustees are also welcome to attend one of the many events and internal team meetings.
Skills
We hope to recruit people with some of the following skills:
Deputy Chair
- Previous board experience
Property
- Project Management
- Portfolio Management
- Property Development
- Fundraising
Charity Fundraising (within similar or larger sized org)
- Community and Corporate Fundraising
- An ability and interest in introducing Grace Eyre to new donors or stakeholders related to the charity’s activities
Digital & Technology
- Experience of supporting the public, patients, or service users in a digital world
- Operational improvements via digital and technology
Lived Experience of Learning Disabilities
- Insight as a service user of an/or organisations providing similar services to Grace Eyre
And other skills or experience that would contribute to the implementation of our plan include:
- Knowledge and experience in environmental sustainability to support our growth strategy
- Experience in promoting inclusion and diversity
- Knowledge and experience of the voluntary sector in Brighton & Hove, and West Sussex
