Drama on the Bus is an event that Grace Eyre’s Travel Buddy team offers together with Brighton & Hove Buses.
The event aims to break down barriers and ease anxieties around travelling on the bus. It also helps to train bus drivers on how best to help people with learning disabilities when they are travelling independently or with support.
What happens at the session
During the session, participants have the chance to meet and speak to a real bus driver and ask them questions.
They will explore different social scenarios through a series of drama role plays. We will look at different social situations on the bus and what to do when they happen. These role plays have been designed by and with people with learning disabilities.
Participants will also break into small groups during the session. With the support of a member of staff they will discuss their biggest concerns and share with the group. Then we will pick out a scenario to act out together.
Bus drivers and trainers from Brighton & Hove Buses will feedback what is best to do in each scenario.
