We wanted to let you all know about some fantastic achievements from our athletes last week who were competing in the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Sheffield. The team were away from Monday 7th to Saturday 12th August, taking part in an opening ceremony at Bramall Lane followed by a full week of competition. We are pleased to report the following:
Keith Purcell won Gold in the Powerlifting competition with Terry Vine winning a 4th place ribbon.
Mario Antoon won Silver in the Short Mat Bowls (category 2B) with Patrick Coles winning Bronze in the same group. They then won silver together in the men’s pairs.
Fran Reynolds won Silver in a memorial Table Tennis Event.
Sue Attwoood finished 4th in her Boccia group, Susan Street 5th and Toby 6th.
Chris Clouder finished 6th in his Golf group.
We’d like to congratulate all the athletes for such great performances and we will be celebrating them at Montefiore Road site along with the coaches who also attended!
