Peter (pictured left) is one of our valuable and long standing volunteers. He originally began as a volunteer on our Travel Buddy Project but last summer he started supporting Stuart on Wednesday mornings. Here’s what the two of them have to say about their outings:
Peter: ‘It’s a nice opportunity for us both to get out and about for a relaxing few hours. We tend to walk but we also catch the bus when we travel further afield. Our plan is to visit different areas for shopping and the occasional cup of tea. Stuart has recently moved and our shopping trips help him with the setting up of his new home. As well as the satisfaction of helping Stuart, these trips also enable me to visit interesting areas of the city which I might not otherwise get to. I enjoy the walking and our mornings are usually a lot of fun!’
Stuart: ‘Our trips are good. It really feels like I’m doing something independently. Some places I have been to before, some places are new. I like chatting to Peter and getting things for my new home.‘
