Are you motivated to help someone to learn new skills?
Can you spare a few hours a week to support someone with a learning disability to volunteer within their community?
This is how you can help:
As a volunteer with the Travel Buddy Project you’ll support someone with a learning disability in a volunteer work placement. This will include helping them to develop their travel skills getting to and from the placement.
People with learning disabilities are often dependent upon expensive methods of transport, such as, taxis and minibuses. Many people lack the skills to travel by public transport. This can lead to social isolation which impacts on employment or training opportunities. The Travel Buddy Project has successfully helped some of these people to take their first steps towards independent travel. This has increased employment/training/volunteering opportunities for those who have used our service.
