Wave Leisure, thanks to funding from Sports for All Sussex, is introducing a new Therapeutic Swimming session to its pools at Newhaven and Lewes.
The swim sessions are aimed at disabled users and pool users that require a calm and relaxing environment to swim in. The sessions are capped at just 20 people and are held during term time only. The sessions are designed with a relaxing and calm feel, to help improve confidence, independence and for people to meet and make new friends enhancing both health and every-day lives. The benefits of these sessions are that they are designed to be totally accessible for disabled users, including use of pool hoists and no step entry at both centres. There will be a dedicated ‘Pool Walker’ available for each session, who will be able to meet you at reception and take you through a step by step plan on the sessions and be on hand to help with any mobility problems or just there for reassurance. Sessions are taking place on Wednesdays, 2.30 – 3.30pm at Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre and Saturdays, 6.15 – 7.15pm at Lewes Leisure Centre.
Each session will need to be pre-booked as there are only 20 spaces for each session. For more information contact the centres directly – Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre on 01273 512498 or Lewes Leisure Centre on 01273 486000.
