The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity that has been working with people with learning disabilities since 1898, across Sussex and parts of London and head office based in Hove. Our mission is to be led by people with learning disabilities in delivery of high-quality housing, support, employment, and activities in their local communities. We need an enthusiastic and engaging person to join our Active Lives team working with people with learning disabilities.

To be one of the Team Leaders responsible for the management of the Active Lives service (day activities and services for people with learning disabilities). This role will look to: –

  •  Support the delivery and management of the Active Lives service – these day services happen both in our premises at Montefiore Road and community locations across Brighton & Hove.
  • Support the line management of a team of support workers – this would include supporting less experienced or confident support workers in their role as they continue to support people with complex needs.
  • Support the development and growth of the Active Lives service
  • Respond and be flexible to various service issues, e.g. Covid-19, safeguarding and staffing.
  • Support the creation of support plans, risk assessments and induction of new referrals to the Active Lives service

Significant experiences of working with people with learning disabilities is important as well as being able to deliver positive, safe and quality activities to people with learning disabilities. Being able to build positive working relationships with people with learning disabilities, colleagues, volunteers, families & carers and other Grace Eyre staff are all key to this role.

You will work closely with the other Active Lives Team Leaders, Service Managers and Head of Service. You will receive a full induction and regular support. You will have the opportunity to be involved in management training and other professional development opportunities.

Having worked in day services for people with learning disabilities would be an advantage. An awareness of budgeting and keeping services/ activities to budget is important. Good IT skills, e.g. use of Microsoft Packages, TEAMS and Zoom, are essential. Resilience is key and we are keen to recruit staff with creative approaches to work and problem solving.
