The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity that has been working with people with learning disabilities since 1898, across Sussex and parts of London and the head office is based in Hove. Our mission is to be led by people with learning disabilities in the delivery of high-quality housing, support, employment, and activities in their local communities.

We are looking to recruit flexible support workers on various hrs contracts to provide cover support for annual leave, sickness and training within the Active Lives service.

Active Lives provides positive and meaningful activities for people with learning disabilities and autism. These activities support people’s creativity, well-being, health, learning and development. We are certainly keen to recruit staff with skills in various areas.

The majority of our activities happen during the day from 8.45 am to 4.45 pm; Monday to Friday. In the future, we hope to deliver some projects on the evenings and at weekends. These will be agreed upon in advance.

Most of our Active Lives activities and projects are delivered in our base in Montefiore Road in Hove. The support that we offer can be in small groups or individually – depending on needs and interests. We support people with issues including travel/ escorting to & from activities, medication and personal care and we ensure all staff are fully trained and supported with this before this occurs.

Active Lives has started to deliver more activities and sessions in the community as well as online. This will continue moving forward supporting our already established support services in Brighton and Hove. So having reasonable IT skills is an important part of this role.

We are looking for people who are patient, compassionate, understanding and able to use their own initiative. It is a rewarding and varied role and one that really makes a difference to the lives of the people we support. We really see people grow and change from the support that they receive.

You will work closely with the Active Lives Team Leaders and wider Active Lives team. You will receive a full induction and regular support & training.

No applicant for employment or employee will be treated less favourably than another on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, marriage & civil partnership or pregnancy & maternity, and we encourage applications from people with learning disabilities or identify with being on the autistic spectrum/neurodiverse.
