A disproportionate number of deaths of people with learning disabilities have again been highlighted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Grace Eyre are working locally with other organisations to raise issues with the NHS. We welcome your feedback on any issues that you have experienced relating to health care during the pandemic.

Learning Disability England have been told by people with learning disabilities and their families that throughout the pandemic they feel forgotten and ignored by the government

People have told them about:

  • unlawful Do Not Attempt Resuscitation orders
  • restrictive visiting policies
  • losing significant amounts of social care support
  • and the impact of having no accessible information when the rules have changed.

Last week the latest LeDeR Report (12 November 2020) was published and estimates that people with learning disabilities are dying of COVID-19 at 6 times the rate of the general population.

Learning Disability England have asked their members to take action together to stop people more people dying or struggling through Covid-19.

You can write to your MP and ask others to do the same.

Here is an easy read template letter that you can send to your MP.

You can also use this website to find out the name and contact details of your MP.

Let’s stand together.
