Defying Gravity’ was an amazing 6-week project led by Harry Fairchild from Echo Performing Arts.
The workshops featured dance and drama activities which culminated in two performances. One hosted at Grace Eyre’s annual ‘Funfest’ in summer 2025, and one at our rehearsal space for friends, family and Grace Eyre staff members to attend.
This small documentary follows this journey and looks at how having a dance instructor with lived experience can inspire and motivate the workshop participants. Harry did an amazing job with the Grace Eyre dance group, demonstrating new moves, co-ordinating ‘improv’ scenarios and organising games – all of which helped people to grow in confidence and explore new techniques.
We would love to work together again; it was a powerful experience for everyone involved and helped the dance and drama team to focus their skills as a team – working towards a collective goal that they could all be proud of.
