This year, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place between 13-19 May. The theme is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”.
Movement is important for our mental health. From going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!
Our mission at Grace Eyre is to deliver Our Charter, which was created by people with a learning disability and autistic people. One of the Our Charter points is “We want to keep fit, have active lives and healthy minds.”
This Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to share just a few of the ways we move for our mental health at Grace Eyre.
Active Lives
Through our Active Lives programme, we offer support and training for greater independence, including travel training, employment & volunteering opportunities, and the chance to gain skills and qualifications.
We also promote and encourage healthy living by offering a wide range of activities like walking, boccia, bowling, yoga, cricket, dance, healthwalks and more!
Sport
We offer a wide variety of exciting sports activities like swimming, tennis, athletics and multi-sports. Many activities are delivered with partners, including Special Olympics Sussex. Our sports take place in safe and accessible locations in communities across Sussex.
