Grace Eyre is a person centred charity that has supported people with learning disabilities to achieve their dreams and wishes for over 100 years. The Purple Playhouse is a community interest company (CIC) designed to host theatre productions, musical performances and other community interest and corporate events. All proceeds from performances in the Purple Playhouse Theatre are reinvested in Grace Eyre’s many projects and programmes supporting people with learning disabilities.

 

We are looking for someone to help produce and deliver a show culminating in an evening performance in Brighton Fringe on May 31st 2017.

The key duties are: Supporting the Drama Project Manager to set up the theatre before each rehearsal and supporting the individual actors with learning disabilities within each session.

Working with and offering support to the two Grace Eyre volunteers working within each session.

Supporting the actors with learning disabilities to leave the Purple Playhouse at the end of each session, including supporting people to get into taxi’s and meet their carers outside of the Grace Eyre building.

A weekly team de-brief at the end of each session.

An opportunity has arisen for an Administrator to work within our Head Office in Hove on a fixed term contract for 8 weeks.  The key duties will be to support the charity’s historical archiving and to support the HR team to move to a paperless filing system.  The ideal candidate should be highly organised, have good IT skills and be able to work unsupervised. Experience in archiving would be an advantage but not essential.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with first-class financial management skills and a commercially astute, visible leader. Your experience will preferably be in other not for profit organisations. S/he will contribute to an experienced senior leadership team and possess the gravitas to win the respect of all stakeholders, demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence and team work. Experience in Social Care is not a prerequisite, but candidates must show passion for the work of the sector and a capacity to translate into this context.
You will hold a financial qualification (e.g. CIMA, CCAB) and membership to an accountancy body. An expert in your field, you will have up to date knowledge of financial regulation including SORP, strategy and policy.  Additionally, an understanding of audit and ICT practice and the ability to oversee and advice on the strategic focus of these areas is essential.

Grace Eyre supports 375 people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs to achieve their dreams and wishes. We are a Sussex based charity that is very keen to develop towards a user led organisation. We believe that as a charity we need to campaign with, work with and include people who use our services, especially in these challenging times.

Grace Eyre is working to an ambitious three year plan which includes growth, increasing our income from fundraising and trading, making our organisation as efficient as possible and to ensure we have a workforce that are skilled and committed.

To help steer this ambitious plan, new trustees are sought with experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • Social Care and Health (particularly learning disability or mental health services)
  • Housing Management (particularly social housing)

Board meetings are held 6 times per year and in addition we ask trustees to sit on one/two of our five committees/subsidiaries;

Finance & IT, Quality & Risk, Human Resources, Grace Eyre Housing and Purple Playhouse Theatre.
