Welcome to Grace Eyre’s refurbished theatre - our Purple Playhouse! Did you know that the theatre has been part of Grace Eyre for over 25 years? We are pleased to announce that it has undergone a total facelift and refurbishment is nearly complete.

We were able to start the bulk of the refurbishment thanks to funds from The Clothworkers’ Foundation, The Garfield Weston Foundation and The Big Lottery.
Our further fundraising efforts such as the launch of our ‘Sponsor a Chair’ Appeal in September 2011 have proved very successful and has funded 60 chairs for the theatre, a chair trolley, chair tube linking system, induction loop system, portable wheelchair ramp and fitting out of the mini-bar.
Many thanks to our sponsors:

The 60 seat Playhouse will not only continue to support the Drama, Music and Dance sessions run by Grace Eyre Active Lives, it will also be a great asset for the local community. Our vision for the Purple Playhouse is a fully embedded community resource that can be hired by a variety of groups, performers and individuals. Hiring out the Playhouse is not new to Grace Eyre, however the refurbishment means it is now a fully up to date attractive resource. We also plan to use the Playhouse as a training and employment opportunity so that people with a learning disability can acquire a wide range of creative and media skills from costume making, learning about lighting and sound, to working behind a theatre bar.
If you are interested in hiring this unique resource based at 36 Montefiore Road please call us on 01273 222011, email theatreenquiries@grace-eyre.org or fill out our contact form »
