Employment Support

The Employment Project helps people to find voluntary as well as paid work. It assesses an individual’s skills and helps him or her set achievable goals. The project provides pre employment skills training, supports the individual to find an appropriate employer and provides ongoing support with travelling to and from work as well as on the job training until the individual feels confident to sustain their employment independently.
Examples of the type of work that we support include working in a café, assistant at a hairdresser, working in a shop selling children’s clothes, working in a supermarket.
Sarbjit wanted to work for a hairdresser. She went for a taster session with a local hairdresser and was so good she was offered a job as her assistant! Sarbjit now works in this voluntary job working once a month.
Lara wanted to work in a cafe. She has done some excellent training in the past, including a Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate, so she has a lot to offer an employer. Lara has had two placements at Starbucks, where she is getting an understanding of what it is like to work for a big company.
