1st July - 'Grace Eyre News' Summer edition published

 

29th November - Christmas Bazaar - 10am-1pm
Sale of art and craft works, Christmas cards and other goodies - Come along!

 

19th June - Grace Eyre artists win 6 awards at Mid-Sussex Mencap Photographic Competition

   

9th December - Carol Concert - 7pm-9pm
The Sussex Philharmonic Chorus perform whilst guests enjoy mulled wine and mince pies - Free Entry - All Welcome 

 

2nd June - The new Angel Cake Cafe is officially opened and providing hot and cold food.

   

January 2009 - The Bus & The City
From January you will be able to spot one of our Travel Buddy Scheme trainees on the side of a Brighton & Hove bus. The Bus & The City is the new name for the 'I'm on the bus' campaign 

 

18th July - First of the new disco nights was a great success with over 90 guests - more events to follow!

   

4th to 7th August - Staff members Hayley Gue and David Matthews kayaked 70 miles around the Isle of Wight to fund raise for the organisation - picture of them both at sea

May 2009 - We will be open every weekend once again for this years Open House Exhibition featuring work from our collective artists.

19th September - Grace Eyre with the support of the Journey On - Streets for People Community Fund from Brighton & Hove council organised a event to celbrate havinf a car free day - Read about it here

 

15th October - Grace Eyre held its Annual General Meeting and produced its new annual review.

     

15th October - Robert Mann & Sarah Clarke attend the Radio, Electrical and Television Retailers' Association Presidential Handover to recieve a £3,000 donation from the associations president Peter Mann.

Peter said: “I am delighted that my role as retra President has enabled me to support the Grace Eyre Foundation.  They do a great deal of important work for people in and around Brighton who deserve the chance of a normal life.  I’d like to thank everyone who helped raise money in support of this worthwhile charity.”

     

7th November - High Sheriff of East Sussex visits Grace Eyre (Article from The Argus)
Hugh Burnett enjoyed a tour of the building, visiting many different activities whilst here - including a literacy session in our new media suite.

2nd December 2008 - Hove MP’s commitment to help the ambitions of Grace Eyre.

Following a visit to Grace Eyre to see how it is working with local authorities in supporting adults with learning
disabilities, Celia Barlow MP for Hove and Portslade has promised to help build a better understanding of key
issues in the local community.

23rd December 2008 - Looking ahead to 2009, Grace Eyre is planning for growth – working in partnership with people with learning disabilities and other organisation.

Following her appointment in 2004 as director and chief officer of Grace Eyre, Eva Jarvis has put together a team of skilled, experienced and committed managers which has transformed the organisation. Today it is a more robust operation offering a far wider scope of support activities for people with learning difficulties (LD). As one commentator put it – “in four years Grace Eyre has shaken off its Nineteenth century image and moved straight into the Twenty-first century. This has largely been achieved by putting people with learning disabilities at the centre of all that they do.
